Miami Southridge High School is located at 19355 SW 114 Avenue in the Cutler Ridge area. It is the home of the mighty "SPARTANS". The school is located in a residential area and bordered on the east side by Assurant Group, a school Dade Partner. The school has ample property featuring baseball, soccer and football fields surrounding the main building. Our 2003 - 2004 enrollment has over 3900 students, this requires portables on the campus. Southridge has a multiethnic student body. One unique feature of our students is that they respect the many different cultures that make up the school population. This year's theme is The Road to Success - No Excuses. The theme reflects a dedication to a high level of academic achievement for all students. This full service high school not only has a wide variety of courses for all students but also many extracurricular activities. A sample of the curriculum includes Advanced Placement courses in Math, Science, Language Arts, Foreign Languages and Art. These classes afford students the opportunity to achieve college credit while in high school. Five Academies offer students choices such as: the Humanities Academy which written by the Rockefeller Grant is our college bound track; the Child Care Development Academy which HRS certifies a student in childcare; the Business Academy which trains students for computer and technical fields and utilizes Assurant Group as a job center; the Academy of Sports Medicine and Allied Health Care; the Academy of Computer Graphic Arts and Technology; and the Academy of Banking and Finance which provides internships in the local banking community. Many of our students, both college bound and career bound, take a regular course track with electives in Music, Art, Computers, Dance, Drama, ROTC and Debate among others. Last year our students were offered over seven million dollars in scholarships. Southridge offers a vast array of interest clubs as well as Student Government. One of the programs, "Spartan Patrol" is now a nationally recognized crime watch program that uses student leaders to help enforce rules. Our 1993-94 football team won the state championship and the marching band has received Superior ratings for most of its history. The strength we demonstrate in academics, activities and athletics makes Southridge stand out above other high schools. It is a great place to attend school and to work, with a unique feeling of family. When you are in the Miami area come by and see our superior programs.
