CLASS OF 1978 30 YEAR REUNION
Are we really old enough to have a 30 year reunion? They say it is time for a 30th, so why not? The class of '79 is welcome too! It will be in Key Largo, July 25-27, 2008. CLASS OF 1988 20 YEAR REUNION
The class of 1988 20 year reunion has been scheduled. It will be a two day event August 16th and 17th, 2008. The first event is a formal reunion at the Miami Beach Resort and Spa. The second event will be a picnic open to family members on Sunday August 17th at Matheson Hammock Park. A mailing was sent out. Richard Aves, President of the Class of 1988 is scheduling the event, For class of '88 members who have not received the reunion mailer, go to www.reunionweb.com and navigate to the 2008 Reunions link. CONGRATULATIONS DECA!
Miami Southridge DECA competed at the International DECA Career Development Conference in Atlanta, Georgia from April 26 to the 29 in the Virtual Business-Retailing Event. Two teams, “Millionaires 2.0" and "Revenge of PEZ” were two of 16 teams that qualified to compete out of approximately 5,000 teams that entered.
"Millionaires" consisting of Cristian Custodio and Dayna Reyes, dominated the competition moving through the double-elimination tournament without a loss (4 teams competed in each round with the top two winning and the bottom two suffering a loss). They beat the defending International champions in both the Semi-finals and Finals to bring home a first place trophy and a $1000 cash prize.
"PEZ", consisting of Gladys Quezada, competed by herself against teams of 2-3 members. She won her first round, but suffered a loss in the second. She came back through the consolation bracket winning three consecutive matches to earn her way into the Finals. She received fourth place and a $100 cash prize.
This is the sixth consecutive year Miami Southridge DECA has qualified for International competition. This is the second championship we have earned (2005, 2008), with a third place (2007), and three fourth places (2005, 2006, 2008).
